@fruffy @chreekat Do you have any advice for telling whether dependabot updates to the version of Github actions that we use should be approved or not? My first reaction, based on ignorance, is that these updates are probably tested and reviewed by a bunch of other Github actions users before they ever get to us, and likely represent some kinds of improvements that we may as well start using. An additional guess is that any exceptions where the newer version has problems would likely be caught and fixed by others, resulting in yet another new version being recommended soon-ish to us. If all of that is true, I am happy to help by just blanket approving and merging all dependabot suggested updates to Github actions versions. |

Given the ongoing attacks on open source infrastructure, I think it's good to be a little careful. Waiting a few days to hear of any new compromises is a good first step. |
There are updates to the core github actions from the Github team. I'd say those are reasonable safe and well tested. We might also have "custom" actions, these often just link to a random github repository. I'd be more careful with those. |
