Systems Reliability & Release Engineering Leader Release Engineering | Release Governance | Unix/Linux | Infrastructure Operations

I help complex systems become more reliable.

My background spans systems reliability, release engineering, release governance, Unix/Linux infrastructure, build and release automation, technical documentation, and operational coordination. Across those areas, the pattern has been consistent: identify hidden assumptions, reduce operational risk, and turn ambiguity into repeatable, accountable process.

I spent more than a decade leading FreeBSD release engineering, coordinating 23 production operating system releases across contributors, infrastructure, build systems, validation, documentation, security handling, release readiness, release schedules, and public communication. That work required technical judgment, careful change control, cross-functional coordination, and a deep respect for user trust.

Areas of focus

  • Systems reliability and operational readiness
  • Release engineering and release governance
  • Build and release automation
  • Unix/Linux and FreeBSD systems
  • Infrastructure operations
  • Change control and release readiness
  • Technical documentation and process design
  • Risk assessment, failure analysis, and reducing tribal knowledge

Selected background

  • Former FreeBSD Release Engineering Lead
  • Coordinated 23 production FreeBSD releases
  • Longtime FreeBSD contributor
  • Experience with large-scale open source release processes
  • Background coordinating technical work across engineering, infrastructure, QA, documentation, security, and operations
  • Built and evolved release tooling, documentation, and governance practices to improve repeatability, visibility, and release integrity

What I am looking for

I am interested in roles where I can help make complex systems more reliable, releases more predictable, and engineering processes easier to trust.

Good fits include:

  • Release Engineering
  • Systems Reliability
  • Infrastructure Operations
  • Release Governance
  • Site Reliability Engineering
  • Platform Engineering
  • Build / Packaging Engineering
  • Open Source Infrastructure
  • Developer Experience / Tooling
  • Technical Operations Leadership
